Pink and Green Tourmaline CHIPS with Quartz and Cleavelandite
Locality: Old stock (mined in the 1980s) from an area near Outjo, Namibia

  1. Color: Pink tourmaline: Ranges from pale pink to deep reddish-pink. Green tourmaline: Comes in various shades of green, from light to dark, often with hints of blue or yellow.

  2. Hardness: Tourmaline has a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, making it suitable for use in jewelry and other decorative purposes. It's durable but may still be susceptible to scratches and chipping under certain conditions.

  3. Clarity: Tourmaline can range from transparent to opaque. It may contain inclusions or impurities, affecting its clarity. Generally, higher clarity tourmalines are more valuable.

  4. Luster: Tourmaline typically exhibits a vitreous (glass-like) to resinous luster. This luster enhances the gemstone's attractiveness.

  5. Density:  The density of tourmaline varies depending on factors such as composition and structure. It typically ranges from 2.82 to 3.32 g/cm³.

  6. Metaphysical Properties: Pink tourmaline is associated with the heart chakra and is believed to promote love, compassion, and emotional healing. Green tourmaline is associated with the heart and solar plexus chakras, and it's believed to encourage vitality, abundance, and balance.
