Ruby in Fuchsite is a unique combination of two minerals: ruby, a variety of corundum, and fuchsite, a green variety of muscovite mica.

  1. Color: Ruby in Fuchsite typically exhibits a vibrant green color due to the fuchsite, with occasional flashes of red or pink from the included ruby crystals.

  2. Hardness: Ruby has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, making it one of the hardest gemstones. Fuchsite, being a form of mica, is much softer, typically around 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale. This combination results in a material that may have varying hardness depending on the proportion of each mineral.

  3. Clarity: The clarity of Ruby in Fuchsite can vary widely. Ruby crystals within the fuchsite matrix may be transparent to translucent, while the fuchsite itself is often translucent to opaque.

  4. Luster: Ruby typically displays a vitreous (glass-like) luster, while fuchsite often has a pearly or vitreous luster due to its mica nature. The combination of these minerals can result in an overall vitreous to pearly luster.

  5. Density: The density of Ruby in Fuchsite can vary depending on the proportions of ruby and fuchsite, but it generally falls within the range of 2.6 to 2.9 g/cm³.

  6. Metaphysical Properties: Ruby is associated with vitality, passion, and life force energy. It is often considered a stone of courage and strength, promoting self-confidence and determination. Fuchsite is known as a stone of rejuvenation and renewal. It is believed to help release blockages in the heart chakra, fostering emotional healing, compassion, and forgiveness. Fuchsite is also associated with abundance and prosperity.
